I am a third year art teacher, currently teaching at McAuley High School. I believe it is important to gather all of my experiences and resources in one place as I begin my journey as a teacher. This website will clearly organize my experiences and knowledge so that they can be easily accessed and reflected upon. I hope for this site to be a living document, which I can adapt and change as I evolve as an educator.
I view learning as a never-ending adventure full of different paths for the student to choose from. This is significant to me, because like many others, my learning has taken me on a grand adventure. Everyone has different interests and inspirations which take them down a variety of educational paths and this is the beauty of education. Some paths will diverge while others will never meet, but in the end we are all on our own adventures in education.
Sometimes on our journeys we lose sight of our goals and desires. These paths can be arduous or enjoyable. Our educational experiences are in a constant fluxes. It is important that we embrace the good with the bad, and the ugly with the beautiful. Like aesthetic experience, our educational experiences whether ugly or beautiful will shape who we are as students and educators.
My hope as a future educator is help guide students on their educational paths by creating new experiences which will promote inquiry, challenges and reflections resulting new perspectives. These experiences will help students to solidify their unique paths and to help them see the value in others paths and perspectives.
I teach because I feel that it is the greatest gift you can give to others. My family has always encouraged a love for education and the arts. I am so appreciative for the education I have received and I feel that every child deserves the same opportunity. I hope as a future educator I can pass my love of learning to my students and guide them along their individual educational paths.
